Duties at Dar Alhikma College

I have known Dr Maha Orkubi since May 1998. We have worked together in the developing process of the college Project. She joined the Al Elm Charitable Foundation (Previously known: Al Taffawuq Al Ilmi Co) in Jeddah Saudi Arabia in May 1998 and served as a committee member of the Academic committee until July 1999. She then joined the project management team to serve as member of the administrative committee.

 

Her responsibilities were coordinating, planing and overseeing the tasks of the development of the college; faculty, staff and administration policies, bylaws and procedures, admission policies, faculty qualification and terms of services, curriculum for the college majors, organization’s structure, MIS system for the college, library, policy manual, the college Catalog, and its operational plan. She oversaw all the local committees’ meetings and corresponded with US team and the local teams’ members in designing all the documents for the establishment of the college. She carried out the Coordinator functions for the Academic Committee, which is responsible to oversee all the academic dimensions of the college project

 

      She reviewed, reviewed drafts documents, evaluated final documents, and reported all the projects’ activities, tasks, policies and academic programs. Review proposals and negotiate with vendors for Al Hikma College’s library, operational, equipment and furniture, and food services.

Furthermore, she followed up with US project’s consultants and the local team members for the various elements and attended to the critical path for each task. Serve as liaison between Saudi and international government officials, colleges and various private agencies.

 

 

She performed administrative duties in manage staff in day to day activities for the project. She coordinated with the Architect for the college’s construction. She Prepared information and public relation materials for marketing and promotional plans for the college. Moreover, she served as a member of the College Human Resource Committee to develop strategies and procedures for personnel hiring and to supervise selection of local and international academic and non-academic staff for the college project.

Dr Maha then joint the faculty of the college an Assistant Professor in Special Education Department and served as an Assistant Director for the Special Education Department in the inaugural year of Dar Alhikma College 1999-2000. She also served on different committees for the college. She served in the Library committee to develop policies and procedures for the library. She served also on the institutional advancement committee where the college’s goals that specify the intended outcome of academic programs, divisions and support services developed.
